The short version: Bindlore runs entirely on your device. We have no server. Your books, and everything you make from them, never leave your computer, not even to us.
Nothing about the content of your books. Every file you open is processed entirely inside your own browser. Your books, their text, and the files Bindlore generates are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. We do not collect personal information, browsing history, or usage analytics.
chrome.storage.local and stay on your device.If you choose to use the AI extras (summaries, key insights, flashcards), you enter your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key. In that case, the text you convert is sent directly from your browser to the provider you selected, under that provider's privacy policy. Bindlore does not see, relay, or store that data. If you never turn this feature on, no AI provider is ever contacted.
Text recognition for scans and photos runs completely on your device. The OCR engine and language data are built into the extension. No images are sent anywhere.
If you paste a link to a public-domain book, your browser downloads that file directly from the site you named. That request goes to that site, not to us.
Bindlore does not use remote code. Everything it runs is packaged inside the extension.
Bindlore is a tool for converting books you own or that are in the public domain, for your personal use. It refuses DRM-protected files by design. You are responsible for having the rights to any file you convert.
