Privacy Policy

The short version: Core conversion in the Bindlore Chrome extension runs in your browser; files are not uploaded to Bindlore. Optional AI extras are the exception: the text you select is sent directly from your browser to OpenAI or Anthropic, using your own API key. This marketing website uses privacy-safe Vercel Web Analytics for page views, campaign tags, and Chrome Web Store clicks only, never book or file content.

What we collect

Nothing about the content of your books. On the core convert path, every file you open in the Bindlore extension is processed inside your own browser. Your books, their text, and the files Bindlore generates are not uploaded to Bindlore. If you turn on optional AI extras, see below. The extension does not collect personal information, browsing history, or usage analytics.

This website (bindlore.app)

The public marketing site is hosted on Vercel and uses Vercel Web Analytics (not Google Analytics) for:

page views
UTM source, medium, and campaign (left on the URL; we do not strip utm_* parameters)
clicks to the Chrome Web Store / Add to Chrome (custom event name cws_click)

We do not collect book content, file names, uploaded documents, extension internals, or other user-content. We do not use Meta Pixel, Google Ads, or GA4 on this site.

What is stored in your browser

Your optional AI settings (your chosen AI provider and your own API key), if you turn on the AI-extras feature. These are saved in your browser using chrome.storage.local. They are never sent to Bindlore.

Optional AI features

If you choose to use the AI extras (summaries, key insights, flashcards), you enter your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key. In that case, the text you select for an AI extra is sent directly from your browser to the provider you selected, under that provider's privacy policy. Bindlore does not see, relay, or store that data. If you never turn this feature on, no AI provider is ever contacted.

OCR

Text recognition (OCR) for scans and photos runs in your browser. The OCR engine and language data are built into the extension, and your images are not uploaded to Bindlore.

Public-domain links

If you paste a link to a public-domain book, your browser downloads that file directly from the site you named. That request goes to that site, not to us.

Permissions we ask for

storage: to remember your optional AI settings in your browser (chrome.storage.local).
api.openai.com / api.anthropic.com: used only for the optional AI extras, only with your own key, and only when you enable them.

Bindlore does not use remote code. Everything it runs is packaged inside the extension.

Your responsibility

Bindlore is a tool for converting books you have the right to use, or that are in the public domain, for your personal use. It refuses DRM-protected files by design. You are responsible for having the rights to any file you convert.
